These drawings are not just about films, though they use films as a starting point. They are also about re-imaging and re-organizing the film image. Sometimes they just condense the moving picture into a still image. A change in expectation sometimes confirms the character of the film, sometimes takes it in another direction. I began with no program or theory but only with the structure of chance, change and randomness, which then took on their own purposes. In practical terms I intentionally chose to forgo any film format or ratio restrictions and didn't use projection or tracing. All drawings were made directly, and in freehand.     D.B. 2009
